About

LISAA

Arts, Design & Architecture

From the very first year, we teach students a methodology aimed at developing their creativity. The challenge? Being able to propose solutions that are both relevant and innovative. We put them in a real-world scenario with a specific set of requirements to follow and teach them how to respond to it while avoiding clichés. To nourish their thought process, we ask them to look for references (literary, philosophical, artistic, etc.) that they can rely on to develop their own response. The development of creativity also involves a lot of experimentation. Classes at LISAA are primarily held in workshops: where one experiments, manipulates, tests, attempts, creates, undoes, and where learning from mistakes is encouraged.

Course details

The Bachelor's degree in Textile Styling/Design offered by LISAA Mode Paris lasts for 3 years and is taught in French or English. It aims to train stylists specialized in textile design, capable of developing color and material ranges, as well as collections of textile patterns applied to fashion products. This training combines innovation and know-how, manual work and technological tools to allow students to personalize their creations through material embellishment methods. The specialization in textile design meets a professional need identified in the fashion industry, where stylists capable of developing suitable pattern and texture collections are highly sought after.

Skills and teaching methods

The fashion industry is constantly evolving, with the emergence of new trends, technologies, consumption patterns, and concerns. Designers must make sense of these changes by incorporating new practices into their creations. Fast fashion demands great agility and adaptability from designers, while new technologies allow for increased personalization of the customer experience. Social media has also changed consumer behavior, with the emergence of co-creation methods for products. Multichannel distribution offers new opportunities, but designers must be increasingly imaginative to meet consumer expectations. Finally, corporate social responsibility has become a major issue, with a growing demand for environmentally and socially responsible products. Industry players are relying on research and innovation to offer more sustainable materials and responsible practices.

What skills will you acquire?

The skills acquired during this bachelor's degree program prepare you best for entering the professional world. Therefore, upon completion of the program, you will be able to:

  • Define the creative brief for a collection while respecting the brand's positioning
  • Develop and structure a collection
  • Manage the production of a collection, from prototyping to final design
  • Promote a collection to internal teams, partners, decision-makers, and/or fashion professionals.

Subjects

The first-year program of this fashion bachelor's degree is shared among LISAA Paris' Fashion Design Bachelors (Fashion Designer/Pattern Maker Bachelor and Fashion Designer/Textile Design Bachelor). It is in the second year that you can choose the Textile Design specialization.

During this first year, you will discover, explore, and choose your path. As a creative and technical incubator, this year will provide you with all the necessary foundations for continuing the bachelor's degree: drawing, sewing, workshops, collaborative projects, fashion culture, computer graphics, and more.

In the second year, in collaboration with renowned fashion houses, you will learn to combine traditional craftsmanship with innovative creations. The Textile Design specialization will introduce you to material and color manipulation, mastery of various techniques (embroidery, weaving, knitting, dyeing, screen printing...), and integration of new technologies (laser cutting, flocking, digital printing, 3D printing...) into your designs.

Please note that you will have the opportunity to complete a 2-month optional internship in a company at the end of the second year.

The third year will be dedicated to developing your personal collection project. You will conceive and develop a designer collection, a ready-to-wear collection, as well as an accessories collection, all derived from the same personal theme. You will create a professional portfolio, which will serve as your calling card for your career.

In the Textile Designer specialization, you will create visually impactful garments and silhouettes through textures, colors, and patterns that stand out in the job market. You will also develop a complete and tailored collection of textile coordinates. Your creations will be showcased in fashion shows and showrooms in front of industry professionals.

You will complete 6 months of mandatory internships in companies.
