LISAA

Video Game

From the very first year, we teach students a methodology aimed at developing their creativity. The challenge? Being able to propose solutions that are both relevant and innovative. We put them in a real-world scenario with a specific set of requirements to follow and teach them how to respond to it while avoiding clichés. To nourish their thought process, we ask them to look for references (literary, philosophical, artistic, etc.) that they can rely on to develop their own response. The development of creativity also involves a lot of experimentation. Classes at LISAA are primarily held in workshops: where one experiments, manipulates, tests, attempts, creates, undoes, and where learning from mistakes is encouraged.

Skills and teaching methods

The Bachelor Video Game Designer program spans over a period of 3 years and offers the possibility to choose between 3 specializations from the first year: Game Art, Game Design, Tech Art, which correspond to the professions in the video game industry. The Game Design specialization allows students to learn about creating the content of a video game, including the creation of gameplay, level architecture design, understanding the logic and ergonomics of a game, as well as mastering the entire pipeline. Although intended for post-baccalaureate students, it is possible to join the program in the 2nd or 3rd year depending on the student's level. A minimum one-month internship in a company is mandatory to validate the program and become familiar with the professional world. It is recommended that this internship take place at the end of the 3rd year, but it can be done before, outside of class hours, preferably during summer vacation. After obtaining the Bachelor's degree, it is possible to further one's education in video game design by following the Game Art Master's program offered by LISAA Paris, in order to deepen and diversify one's knowledge.
