About

LISAA

Arts, Design & Architecture

From the very first year, we teach students a methodology aimed at developing their creativity. The challenge? Being able to propose solutions that are both relevant and innovative. We put them in a real-world scenario with a specific set of requirements to follow and teach them how to respond to it while avoiding clichés. To nourish their thought process, we ask them to look for references (literary, philosophical, artistic, etc.) that they can rely on to develop their own response. The development of creativity also involves a lot of experimentation. Classes at LISAA are primarily held in workshops: where one experiments, manipulates, tests, attempts, creates, undoes, and where learning from mistakes is encouraged.

Course details

In two years, the 2D Animation Master's program offers you the opportunity to strengthen your skills and specialize in 2D animation techniques, as well as in project management and design such as production direction, writing, storyboarding, concept art, layout, rigging, animation, matte painting, 2DFX, and compositing.

Skills and teaching methods

Project management involves developing the production schedule and production tracking documents for a 2D film, as well as managing the teams involved in the process. The different stages of the project include pre-production, production, and post-production. In pre-production, it is necessary to lead the creation of the elements defining the artistic and visual identity of the project, create the visual design elements necessary for the film, create mood boards, color scripts, and light scripts, create the storyboard and animatic, and prepare the animation. In production, it is important to lead the creation of the different production assets according to the schedule and specifications, and animate all the elements of the 2D scenes. In post-production, it is necessary to lead the creation of the different post-production assets according to the schedule and specifications, compose all the elements, finalize the color grading, add 2D rendered special effects, complete the image and sound editing, and export the final master of the project according to the specifications.

Subjects

The first year of the Master's program will allow you to refine your artistic and technical skills and specialize in one of the professions involved in the production of an animated film. A unique pedagogical model consisting of dedicated modules is implemented. In addition to the two mandatory modules, students choose three modules that they will invest in throughout the program. This pedagogy immerses students in the reality of the professions, alternating individual exercises and team work, notably through the pre-production of the final graduation films. You will produce your project from A to Z, accompanied by professionals who will help you assess your progress throughout the year, providing necessary insights. At the end of the year, you will present the entire pre-production work done as a team before a jury composed of professionals from the sector. During this period, you can immerse yourself in the professional world through an internship at any time during the year.

The second year of the Master's program will allow you to develop technical and artistic skills on the same pedagogical model as the previous year, this time focusing on the production and post-production phases of the final graduation films. Alongside the courses, you will continue to work on your 2D animation short film. You will produce your project from A to Z, accompanied by professionals who will help you assess your progress throughout the year, providing necessary insights. At the end of the year, you will present your work in two stages to a jury composed of professionals from the sector. The first stage will be a team presentation of the completed films, and the second stage will be an individual presentation of your portfolios and demo reels before the same jury. During this period, you can once again immerse yourself in the professional world through an internship at any time during the year.
